Lee Ann (she, her, hers) has served as lead minister of First Congregational Church since August 2022. She came to ordained ministry as a second career, following stints in choral conducting and public administration.
Rev. Lee Ann attended the Iliff School of Theology in Denver, Colorado, in 2002, earning her Masters of Divinity degree. While at Iliff she received numerous awards for worship scholarship and innovation and concentrated course work in theology and Bible. She studied voice and music education at Friends University in Wichita, Kansas, where she received her Bachelor of Music Education degree in 1984.
A passionate advocate of justice for all of God’s children, Rev. Lee Ann has devoted her life to the nurture of healthy, affirming communities. She says, “I love First Congregational Church because it is such a vibrant, inclusive community of faith. Its prophetic witness is especially important in Colorado Springs. My feeling about this church is that anyone who wants to deepen their connection to the holy can find here a supportive and loving community in which to explore what it means to them to be a Christian in today’s world.” She describes herself as a Christian pluralist. “I identify as a follower of Jesus, but I believe there are many paths to God. What is important is that we recognize our path and pursue it with dedication and zeal.”
Lee Ann is an enthusiastic cook who enjoys a martini (gin, of course!), cycling, music, movies, and reading. She loves doing anything with her wife, Lisa, as well as hanging out with their children, David, Sunny, and grandson Clark, and Hannah and Jackson.
