David joined the staff of First Congregational Church of Colorado Springs, Colorado as the Organist and Office Administrator in July 2017. In July 2019, he was appointed Director of Music Ministry, where he oversees the music department and conducts the Chancel Choir and Handbell Ensemble. Before moving to Colorado Springs, he served as the organ scholar of the First Congregational Church of Kalamazoo, Michigan. His decades of experience as an organist have also included principal positions at the First Christian Church in Greencastle, Indiana and Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Indianapolis, alongside various other freelance work.
In Colorado Springs, David has performed as an organ recitalist in solo programs, holiday-themed recitals, and events for the Mu Phi Epsilon professional music fraternity. He was also a featured soloist in the 2017 Western Michigan University Showcase Spectacular and a recitalist in the 2016 and 2017 Lenten Organ Recital Series at First United Methodist Church of Kalamazoo. In 2022, David received the Colleague (CAGO) certification from the American Guild of Organists.
David earned a Master of Music degree from Western Michigan University in 2017, focusing on French horn performance with secondary emphases in organ and choral conducting. While there, he served as a graduate assistant in the horn studio and performed with the University Symphony Orchestra, Symphonic Band, and Graduate Chamber Ensembles. He continues to perform regularly as a freelance hornist throughout the region. David also holds a Bachelor of Music degree in French horn performance from DePauw University.
When not playing music, David is a freelance video editor and enjoys exploring the world – whether real, internal, or fantasy – through running and travel, yoga and meditation, or reading and adventurous video games.
