In January 1999, three FCC couples, all parents with young children, formed a new fellowship group, which for the last 18 years has been known as Pooped-Out Parents (POPs). Since that time, POPs has expanded in size and age range to include single and partnered parents of children of all ages. As one might imagine, there are many of us whose children are no longer young. While we might still be pooped-out, it’s time to redefine our acronym.
POPS members describe themselves as “an FCC social group for seasoned parents.” POPS now stands for Parents Out Partying Someplace which pretty much describes what we do. We continue to recognize that our roles as Parents unite us as we gather for fun and fellowship (aka Partying) at members’ houses or . . . Someplace else.
Going forward, we still plan to meet on the second Saturday evening of every even month, six times per year. Often, we will potluck at someone’s home. However, we might try some different formats, especially in the summer months.
POPS is still going strong and always welcomes new members. In fact, now is the perfect time to try our group (or try it again!), even if you can only come once a year. We have also encouraged the creation of the Young Families fellowship group in our congregation, and we recognize that people with young children may prefer to attend that group, or may choose to attend both.
For more information about POPS, or to be placed on the mailing list to learn of upcoming events, please contact Jane Ridings.

Annual POPS Holiday Party
Saturday, December 10, 6 p.m., at the home of Jane and Eric Ridings
IMPORTANT: GET/STAY ON THE POPS MAILING/E-VITE LIST!
To be added to or remain on the distribution list, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org. Even if you have been on the list in the past, after 18 years, the list needs a lot of tidying up. We are starting over! Please email Jane in the affirmative if you want to remain on the list. Thank you!

The women’s annual retreat has been different but significant each year. The retreat is a great way to meet and share with other women regardless of age.
